President Sisi meets with the President of the European Parliament, B"Brussels"
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Roberta Mezzola, President of the European Parliament, as part of his visit to the Belgian capital, Brussels, to participate in the first Egyptian-European summit.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President expressed, at the beginning of the meeting, his appreciation for the positive and supportive role played by the European Parliament, and Mrs. Mezzola in particular, in strengthening the course of the partnership between Egypt. And the European Union, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination between the two sides on various issues of common interest, and accelerating the implementation of the strategic partnership axes between Egypt and the European Union, in addition to strengthening the Egyptian-European parliamentary dialogue as a bridge for communication between the peoples of the two shores of the Mediterranean.
For her part, the President of the European Parliament thanked Egypt for its efforts. In reaching an agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, stressing that without the President’s efforts in this regard, the agreement would not have been possible to reach.
The official spokesman added that the meeting discussed Egypt’s efforts to establish security and stability in the Middle East region, including the mediation that led, in cooperation with other mediators, to reaching an agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, in addition to Egypt’s hosting of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. With high-level international participation, the necessity of establishing a ceasefire, introducing humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, and providing the necessary medical care to the wounded and injured was emphasized.
The President of the European Parliament stressed that the European Union is pushing towards implementing the two-state solution, while the meeting discussed Egypt’s efforts to settle regional crises in a way that preserves the sovereignty, stability, unity and safety of countries. its lands, and preserve the capabilities of its people. Mitsola expressed her great appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt in the region, praising its wise and balanced policies, considering them a fundamental pillar of stability in the Middle East and the southern Mediterranean.
The meeting also touched on the issue of illegal immigration, where the Egyptian efforts that resulted in halting the departure of illegal immigration boats from the Egyptian coasts were praised. Since September 2016, the importance of strengthening European cooperation has been emphasized by providing job opportunities for skilled Egyptian workers, facilitating study and training paths in European countries, as well as striving to achieve development and consolidate stability in the relevant countries.
The meeting witnessed consensus on the importance of strengthening communication between the Egyptian Parliament with its two chambers, the Representatives and Senate, and the European Parliament on various issues of interest. Joint.
The President also expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the honorable position adopted by the European Parliament in support of the Palestinian cause, which was embodied in the demand to stop the war and end the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for integrated efforts between Egypt and European countries to ensure the full implementation of the agreement to stop the war, provide humanitarian aid, and begin the reconstruction of the Strip, while welcoming Hosting Egypt’s Reconstruction and Recovery Conference in the Gaza Strip, scheduled to be held in November 2025.
