After unveiling the curtain marking the opening of the factory, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Dr. Roman Nabil Emmanuel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the factory, who indicated that the factory is built on an area of 1575 square meters and that it specializes in the production and packaging of “ethanol” High purity with different concentrations: 100%, 96%, and 70%, in addition to the production of industrial alcohol with a concentration of 95%.
"Emmanuel" He pointed out that the investment costs of the factory amount to 4 million US dollars, while the annual production capacity reaches about 2 million liters, adding that the number of direct workers reaches 30 workers, while the number of indirect workers reaches 15 workers.
He explained that the project depends on “molasses” Cane and beets as basic raw materials are local raw materials, indicating that ethanol is considered one of the alternatives to traditional energy sources of petroleum quality.
The chairman of the factory’s board of directors continued that local production of “ethanol” It is about 85 million liters, and 90% of the production is currently directed to one of the industrial companies for use in the production of PVC, while the Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries Company uses the rest of the quantity in the production of natural vinegar, organic solvents, and yeast of various types.
He added: There are some private factories with limited capacities that produce small quantities of pure alcohol, but its specifications do not meet the specifications. Medical, pharmaceutical and laboratory alcohol. From the above, it is clear that the local market needs to establish projects to produce ultra-pure ethanol for use in the manufacture of medicine, cosmetics, laboratory supplies, etc.
Dr. Roman Nabil Emmanuel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the factory, explained that molasses in the local market is used as a main raw material for production. "Ethanol", as it is produced from cane in quantities reaching 380 thousand tons annually, 90% of which is manufactured to produce ethanol, yeast, and organic solvents, and the remaining 10% is sold in the local market or exported.
He added: Sugar production companies from beets produce quantities of molasses amounting to 420 thousand tons annually, and they export 95% to The foreign market and sells 5% in the local market.
"Emmanuel" He pointed out that the factory consists of two main sections, the first of which is the fermentation section, explaining that this section depends on receiving the raw materials represented by beet molasses or cane molasses and working on treating it by dilution and sterilization and then preparing it for the fermentation process.
He added that the second section of the factory is the distillation section, explaining that distillation is the science of extracting materials, and indicating that the distillation unit at KMT Company By extracting and purifying ethanol through 7 different distillation towers.
While Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, confirmed that this industrial project represents an important qualitative addition to the economic zone; It contributes to deepening local manufacturing and meeting the markets’ needs for ethanol products.
