Cairo opens the World Table Tennis Championship for people with intellectual disabilities

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, will inaugurate, this Monday evening, the World Table Tennis Championship for Mental Disabilities, which Cairo will host during the period from 3 to 7 November this year, in Hall No. (2) in the hall complex at Cairo International Stadium, with the participation of an elite group of the world’s most prominent players in the game.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to witness a large presence of sports figures and political leaders, in a celebration that reflects Egypt’s ability to organize and host major events. International.

Dr. Amal Mobdi, President of the Egyptian Federation for Mental Disabilities and Vice President of the Paralympic Committee, confirmed that the Federation has completed all preparations to organize this global event, noting that the Egyptian state is always ready and ready to host the largest international tournaments.

Dr. Amal Mobdi thanked His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, patron of sports and athletes, for his continued support for various sports, especially sports for people of determination.

He announced The technical staff of the national team is a list of the male and female players participating in the tournament, and they are: Abdel Aziz Darwish, Abdel Rahman Bahjat, Youssef Sharif, Mohamed Abdel Ilah, Marwan Emad, Mahmoud Mohamed, Karim Sherif El-Zeini, Abdullah Ahmed, Nisreen Saeed, Rahma Khaled, Maryam Abdel Fattah, Nour Islam, Fatima Abdel Fattah, and Israa Ahmed.

The technical and administrative staff of the national team includes: Hazem Mohamed, technical director, Ahmed Mohamed and Hassan Mohamed are coaches, Eman Gamal is a coach, and Ahmed Ali is an administrator, while the delegation is headed by Dr. Fatima Fawzy, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Federation for Mental Disabilities, and Dr. Magdy Mohamed Ismail serves as the team’s doctor.

The tournament witnesses wide participation from countries representing various continents, including: Egypt, Hong Kong, Italy, Turkey, Russia, France, Portugal, Bulgaria, China Taipei, and Macau.

The opening ceremony begins at seven in the evening, In the presence of: Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Eng. Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Eng. Amal Mobdi, President of the Egyptian Federation for Intellectual Disabilities, President of the International Federation for Intellectual Disabilities, Major General Ashraf Helmy, President of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation and member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and a number of sports icons and executive and political leaders.

Dr. Howaida Mendy, Executive Director of the Egyptian Federation for Intellectual Disabilities, also assumes the duties of tournament director.
