Al-Wasl started with shaky confidence against Al-Muharraq and came out with a draw

The Portuguese coach of Al-Wasl team, Luis Castro, confirmed that his team started its match against its guest, Muharraq, Bahrain, with shaky confidence, which was reflected in the result, which ended in a draw (2-2), in the meeting that brought the two teams together this Wednesday evening at Zabeel Stadium, within the fourth round of the first group competitions in the “AFC Champions League 2”.
Castro said in the press conference after the match: “We knew that it would be a difficult confrontation, because the opposing team came to get the three points, but we entered the match with somewhat shaky confidence, and we suffered during the second half from a lack of concentration, so the confrontation ended in a draw.”
He added: “The Muharraq match was an extension of the situation that the players were going through in recent matches. Despite the hard work we did last week in preparation for this confrontation, football, like any other area of life, if you do not work hard enough, you will not achieve the desired results.”
Castro continued: “In recent matches, luck was against us in many situations, even though we were the better party in terms of possession and creating opportunities, but we lacked success in ending attacks, so the results were the opposite of what we aspire to.”
Regarding Al-Wasl’s net conceding five goals in the last three matches, starting with the exit from the League Cup against Dibba, through the draw in the “ADNOC” League against Khor Fakkan, all the way to facing Al-Muharraq, Castro said: “I agree that we faced difficult defensive moments in the past matches, but we will continue to work on correcting the mistakes, restoring confidence and focusing on investing in the opportunities that are available to us in front of the goal.”
For his part, Al-Wasl’s Brazilian player Adrilson Da Silva, who won the best player award in the match and scored the equalizer in the last minutes, said: “We started the match with shaky confidence, which made us pay the price by not achieving victory, but we will continue to work hard in preparation for our next match against Al-Jazira, in order to regain confidence during the upcoming training sessions.”
