In the presence of the Minister of Sports, the Olympic Council approves the cooperation protocol with the Italian Committee

The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, headed by Engineer Yasser Idris, approved; In the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, during the meeting held this evening, Wednesday, at the Committee’s headquarters in Cairo International Stadium, presented the official cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Olympic Committee and its Italian counterpart.
The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee praised the cooperation protocol with the Italian side after unanimously approving it during today’s session, stressing that it contributes to strengthening and developing the Olympic Games through exchanging experiences and benefiting from the Italian technical and logistical capabilities in a way that contributes to the benefit of Egyptian sports.
The Council appreciated the cooperation protocol with the Italian side after approving it unanimously during today’s session. The Egyptian Olympic Committee managed this step as a prelude to the intensive Egyptian preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as the protocol allows for the establishment of strong international camps for teams and national teams and provides strong interaction with elements of the Italian Olympic sports system, which is witnessing qualitative leaps and tremendous development at all technical and competitive levels, which is evident in the number of Olympic medals that Italy has won in recent years.
The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee welcomed the support of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports for this. The step was carried out in coordination between the committee and the ministry within the framework of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ continued support for the Olympic Games.
The protocol was signed by the Egyptian side, Engineer Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and by the Italian side, Mr. Luciano Bonfiglio, President of the Italian Olympic Committee, in the presence of Major General Hazem Hosni, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and Mr. Carlo Mornati, Secretary-General of the Italian Olympic Committee.
The protocol aims to enhance joint cooperation in the areas of technical and administrative preparation. And medical, and organizing joint training camps for the Egyptian national teams in the sports facilities of the Italian Olympic Committee, which is one of the most prominent sports centers in Europe and includes 26 Olympic sports.
This unique protocol, which was completed by engineer Yasser Idris thanks to his strong international relations, is considered the Olympic deal of the century, especially since Italy is considered one of the great sporting countries in Olympic forums, which reflects the size of the expected gains for Egypt on the technical and administrative levels, within the framework of ideal preparation for the Olympic Games. This cooperation also comes with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), without any financial burdens on the Egyptian state or the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and is considered a new step in the path of developing Egyptian sports in accordance with the latest international standards, and in a way that reflects the directives of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, in supporting international cooperation and exchanging experiences to develop the capabilities of Egyptian athletes and raise their efficiency at the technical and administrative levels.
The protocol also includes organizing international training courses for Egyptian coaches in cooperation with the Italian Olympic Committee, starting with national team coaches, with the aim of transferring the latest training methods and techniques and exchanging experiences between the two sides.
The cooperation also includes development programs for joint games between Egypt and Italy in various Olympic sports, and in the medical field, cooperation will be done with the medical center of the Italian Olympic Committee to benefit from From his advanced expertise in sports medicine, physical therapy and rehabilitation, in addition to the exchange of visits between doctors and experts from both sides.
