His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Border Security Council, launched the “Smart Reporting System for Security Breaches” for the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the General Command of Dubai Police and Dubai Customs.
The launch of this system comes within the framework of supporting the sustainability of the aviation security system, enhancing institutional integration and strategic partnership between government agencies in the Emirate of Dubai, and in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Plan (D33), which aims to consolidate the emirate’s position as the fastest growing global business center, and to be one of the three most important global destinations for visitors in the fields of specialized tourism and business.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the exemplary cooperation that resulted in this system, stressing that developing the aviation security system represents a strategic priority that keeps pace with the vision of the wise leadership in enhancing Dubai’s position as one of the safest and most efficient cities in the world in managing its vital sectors.
His Highness pointed out the importance of continuing to work to raise the levels of readiness and coordination between the concerned authorities, and employing more smart solutions in order to consolidate the confidence of travelers and international partners in the aviation environment in Dubai, which has become a leading global model in quality, innovation and sustainability.
This system is a qualitative step towards developing the aviation security system in Dubai, by employing smart technologies and integrated systems that ensure speed of response, accuracy of follow-up, and raising the efficiency of coordination between the competent authorities, thus enhancing Dubai’s global leadership in the fields of air security and safety.
This project embodies an advanced model of cooperation between government agencies in Dubai within a unified system for exchanging information and following up on security reports, allowing preventive measures to be taken proactively and quickly. It also reflects the Dubai government’s keenness to establish an integrated governance approach and institutional innovation in managing security and operational files, to ensure a safe and sustainable environment that supports the emirate’s global competitiveness.
The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the new system comes as a continuation of its efforts to develop security monitoring and analysis tools, which contributes to raising the readiness of concerned authorities, unifying communication channels, and activating smart response mechanisms for various reports, in a way that enhances performance efficiency and consolidates Dubai’s leadership position in civil aviation security.
It is noteworthy that Dubai International Airport achieved record performance during the first half of this year by receiving about 46 million passengers, recording the highest rate of passenger movement during the first half in its entire history.
The airport received 92.3 million passengers in 2024, exceeding the record number of 89.1 million passengers in 2018, maintaining its global leadership by topping the Airports Council International list of the busiest international airports in the world for 10 years.
Dubai International Airport also handled 2.88 million tons of air cargo during the year 2024 with high security efficiency.
Al Maktoum International Airport is undergoing an expansion at a cost of 128 billion dirhams to become the largest airport in the world in terms of capacity. It is designed to receive up to 150 million passengers over the next decade, while its final capacity will reach 260 million passengers annually, in addition to 12 million tons of cargo annually upon completion.
With the continued rapid growth of passenger and cargo traffic through Dubai, and the accompanying readiness of the aviation sector infrastructure to deal with this growth with the highest levels of efficiency, the emirate is working to accelerate the development of advanced systems based on future technologies and artificial intelligence, to strengthen its position as a reliable global gateway and a role model in the fields of safety and innovation.
