The Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in the meeting of the tripartite mechanism for Libya’s neighboring countries in Algeria

Share Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, today, Thursday, in the work of the tripartite mechanism meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries, hosted by Algeria, with the participation of Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and Mr. Mohamed Ali El-Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Tunisians Abroad in the Republic of Tunisia.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Ati reviewed during the meeting the firm Egyptian position towards the crisis. Libya, stressing that the Libyan political solution is the only way to end the crisis and achieve security and stability in the country, and that this solution must be under pure Libyan ownership and leadership through dialogue and consensus between the Libyan parties under the auspices of the United Nations, without any dictates or external interference.
Minister Abdel-Aty stressed that Egypt will spare no effort in supporting the Libyan brothers and backing international and regional efforts aimed at unifying Libyan institutions. And ending the existing division, explaining that the continued state of division and the absence of a unified executive authority will not allow the return of actual stability to Libya, which requires unifying Arab efforts, especially from the immediate neighboring countries, to urge the Libyan parties to move forward in implementing the road map proposed by the United Nations mission, especially with regard to the formation of a new unified government that prepares for holding simultaneous presidential and legislative elections as soon as possible.
The official spokesman added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of exiting the country. All foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libyan territory without exception or delay, in compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions, in a way that contributes to restoring Libya to its full sovereignty and preserving its security, stability and territorial integrity, indicating that Libya’s security is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs called for adopting a comprehensive approach to address the Libyan crisis that takes into account its political, economic, security and social dimensions, and not being limited to one path without the other, in order to ensure that the roots of the crisis are addressed and achieved. Sustainable stability in Libya and the entire region.
Minister Abdel-Ati concluded his speech by emphasizing that Egypt will continue close coordination and consultation with both Algeria and Tunisia within the framework of this tripartite mechanism, in a way that contributes to supporting the Libyan brothers to achieve their aspirations for security, development and prosperity.
