President Sisi offers condolences to his Kenyan counterpart for the victims of the landslide

Today, Tuesday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.

The official spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the President offered his condolences to the Kenyan President for the victims of the landslide that recently struck one of the regions in Kenya, stressing Egypt’s solidarity with the families of the victims and the Kenyan people.

 

The two presidents stressed the depth of relations between the two countries, especially with the momentum achieved as a result. Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, added that the call also dealt with the exchange of visions regarding a number of regional issues, as the President pointed out in this regard the connection of the situation in brotherly Sudan to Egyptian national security, stressing the necessity of preserving the unity and sovereignty of Sudan, Egypt’s support for the national state institutions in Sudan, and the inevitability of stopping the humanitarian tragedy that the people of Sudan are witnessing, especially in The city of El Fasher and its environs, pointing to the efforts made by Egypt to achieve calm in Sudan within the framework of the Quartet. 

 

For his part, the Kenyan President expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Egypt to end the crisis in Sudan, indicating his aspiration to coordinate with Egypt in this context.

 

The official spokesman explained that the two presidents discussed the issue of water The Nile, where Mr. President stressed Egypt’s position in support of development efforts and projects in the Nile Basin countries, with its categorical rejection of harming its water interests and the unilateral measures taken by Ethiopia.

 

While President "Ruto" His country was keen to enhance cooperation and economic integration among the Nile Basin countries, and not to harm the interests of any country, stressing its appreciation for the support that Egypt provides to Kenya in various development fields.

 

The official spokesman indicated that the call also addressed the situation in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region, where the two presidents agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve stability.
