Minister of Civil Aviation: Cooperation between Latin American, Arab and African countries is a pillar of sustainable growth in the sector

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh Al-Hafni, stressed that strengthening cooperation between civil aviation groups in Latin American countries and Arab and African countries represents a fundamental foundation for achieving sustainable growth for the industry, and contributes to the exchange of expertise and successful experiences between various parties.
This came during his participation today, Wednesday, in the twenty-sixth session of the General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC), on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of the annual conference of the International Civil Aviation Organization – (ICAN). 2025), with the high-level participation of ministers, heads of civil aviation authorities, and representatives of international and regional organizations concerned with aviation affairs.
The activities of the session began with an opening session that witnessed speeches by Hector Porcella, President of the Civil Aviation Commission for Latin American Countries and President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Dominican Republic, and Salvatore Sciacquitano, President of the ICAO Council, where the importance of strengthening international cooperation to develop the civil aviation system globally was emphasized. During his speech, the Minister of Aviation indicated Egypt’s keenness to strengthen international cooperation in the field of civil aviation, noting the prominent role played by the Latin American and Caribbean Civil Aviation Committee in developing the air transport industry and supporting regional integration among member states.
The Minister of Civil Aviation also stressed that developing training programs and building human capabilities is one of the most important axes of development in the aviation sector, stressing the importance of adopting modern technologies and advanced air navigation systems to keep pace with developments. The accelerating global air transport movement, pointing out that Egypt, through its active membership in ICAO, is keen to implement the highest standards of safety, security and quality. This enhances its position as a leading regional aviation centre, while adhering to the principles of environmental sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in accordance with international standards.
The Minister of Civil Aviation concluded his speech, stressing that international cooperation and integration among member states constitute a major factor in supporting the civil aviation industry, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and promoting economic, commercial and tourism development among various regions around the world.
