ABU DHABI, 16 November / WAM / The Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, signed 10 strategic cooperation agreements with a number of local and international entities during the activities of the “Drift

These agreements come within the Centre’s efforts, with the support of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council, to develop a smart and integrated transportation system that supports Abu Dhabi’s future vision, through partnerships that enable the development of autonomous systems and operational applications in the fields of advanced air transport, maritime transport, and autonomous logistical transport, in addition to cooperation in the field of digital infrastructure and advanced communication networks.

Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Ghafli, Acting Director of the Integrated Transport Center, explained that these agreements reflect the center’s pivotal role in leading the transformation towards smart and sustainable mobility in Abu Dhabi, and developing self-driving capabilities and marine, land and air logistics services, through strategic partnerships with national and international bodies to adopt the latest technical solutions, including advanced communication networks, smart infrastructure, operating self-driving buses and trucks, and using heavy drones, in addition to a feasibility study and operation of electric marine vehicles to ensure the highest levels of safety and efficiency and enhance the emirate’s position on the global level. Global.

The Center and the Cybersecurity Council signed a cooperation agreement to enhance cybersecurity in the smart and autonomous mobility system in Abu Dhabi, through exchanging experiences and risk information, coordinating in responding to incidents, and organizing technical exercises and specialized workshops.

The agreement includes developing educational and training programs and spreading awareness of cybersecurity, thus enhancing the protection of vital infrastructure and information security in the transportation sector.

The center signed a cooperation agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the American company Tensor Auto Inc., which specializes in autonomous driving technologies and artificial intelligence, with the aim of enabling the commercial operation of autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi.

The agreement provides the regulatory and technical framework necessary to operate vehicles in realistic environments according to the highest standards of safety and efficiency, including exchanging experiences, transferring knowledge, and building national capabilities in the field of autonomous driving, thus enhancing the emirate’s readiness to adopt future transportation solutions.

In the air transport sector, the center signed a cooperation agreement with the Japanese company “SkyDrive”, a leader in manufacturing electric helicopters and developing urban air transport solutions, with the aim of supporting advanced air mobility applications in Abu Dhabi.

The agreement focuses on implementing technical studies and trial operations of the SD-05 vertical take-off and landing aircraft, assessing the readiness of the regulatory and technical infrastructure, and developing airstrips and smart charging stations, with the possibility of expanding cooperation in the future to include manufacturing, operation and maintenance in coordination with the relevant government agencies, in a way that enhances the advanced air transport system and establishes Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading regional center in this sector.

The center signed a cooperation agreement with the global company “Glidewise”, which specializes in developing automated mass transit systems (ATN), with the aim of testing and applying autonomous and sustainable transportation solutions in Abu Dhabi. It aims to explore the company’s innovative technologies and evaluate the possibility of their practical application to support the integrated transportation system, including finding smart alternatives to traditional transportation and improving the connection between high-density transportation paths and urban areas, in addition to enhancing the exchange of experiences and data and developing regulatory systems and standards, while laying the foundations for a pilot project to test the feasibility of the new technology in the emirate.

In the context of promoting innovation and employing advanced technology in transportation systems, the center signed a cooperation agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the Emirati company BlueGulf Group to develop autonomous marine experiments and applications in the emirate.

The agreement aims to establish a cooperation framework for testing and operating autonomous marine means and conducting field experiments, in addition to preparing feasibility studies and technical analyzes to ensure that operational applications are compatible with applicable environmental security and safety standards, thus supporting the shift towards smart and sustainable maritime transport.

The center also signed a cooperation agreement with the German company Bentler Mobility to implement the trial operation of self-driving minibuses in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of assessing the operational capabilities and infrastructure necessary to expand autonomous mobility applications, through analytical studies of mobility needs, designing an integrated framework for operation, and conducting technical and organizational analyzes of field experiments, with a specialized work team supervising coordination, follow-up, and submitting recommendations to senior management, which contributes to the development of an integrated and safe transportation system that supports the shift towards smart transportation.

The center signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirati company “Sinaa Technology” to enhance the application of autonomous solutions in the transportation and logistics sector, which includes operating self-driving trucks and using heavy drones to deliver goods, while forming joint work teams to follow up on the implementation of projects and evaluate their stages, in a way that enhances logistical efficiency and reduces carbon emissions.

The center also signed a cooperation agreement with the global “E&” technology group to develop and enhance self-driving and smart transportation technologies in Abu Dhabi, through the areas of technical infrastructure and advanced communication solutions such as fifth generation networks (5G) and advanced fifth generation (5.5G), exchanging knowledge, exploring smart city projects and providing Wi-Fi service to passengers on board self-driving vehicles, in addition to holding workshops and providing consultations to ensure the application of the highest technical standards.

The cooperation also included implementing a trial run of drones supported by artificial intelligence to monitor traffic movement and analyze operational data in real time. These drones collect and transmit data directly to the Traffic Management Center, enabling the relevant teams to monitor traffic density, monitor congestion, deal with irregular vehicles and respond immediately to accidents, and contribute to the establishment of an integrated monitoring and analysis system that supports decision-making and coordination between field teams and control rooms, thus enhancing the efficiency and flow of traffic management and raising safety levels in the emirate.

Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Ahmad, CEO of Government and VIP Relations at E&Emirates, said that cooperation with the Integrated Transport Center enhances Abu Dhabi’s efforts to integrate advanced technologies into public services, noting that drones provide a comprehensive view in real time, which contributes to accelerating traffic movement, improving planning with greater accuracy, and following road movement to provide advance solutions when needed.
