Counsel Ahmed Bandari, Director of the Executive Body of the National Elections Authority, confirmed the regularity of work in all polling stations that opened their doors outside Egypt to receive voters wishing to cast their votes in the second phase of the House of Representatives elections, and that the Authority did not receive any complaints or observations about the existence of obstacles preventing Egyptian voters from voting in Outside.

 

Bandari said – in a press conference held from inside the central operations room at the headquarters of the National Elections Authority – that the authority received information that work had begun in 105 electoral headquarters abroad, out of 139 headquarters distributed in 117 countries around the world, and that it had opened its doors to receive the electorate on its scheduled times, at exactly nine o’clock in the morning according to the local time of each country on Sharpness.

 

He pointed out that the rest of the 34 electoral headquarters will open their doors successively upon the specified date, according to their local time, at nine in the morning, as the Electoral Committee at the Egyptian Consulate General in the city of Los Angeles in the United States of America will be the last headquarters that opens its doors to receive voters, which corresponds to seven o’clock in the evening today, local time. Cairo.

 

The Director of the Executive Branch of the National Elections Authority called on the citizens of Egypt who are abroad during the two voting days, and whose electoral domicile is located within the governorates of the second phase of the House of Representatives elections, to be keen to participate and go to the designated electoral headquarters to cast their votes for whomever they deem appropriate. Candidates.

 

Bendari praised the level of close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to facilitate all procedures related to the electoral process abroad, and facilitate voting for Egyptian voters.

 

For his part, Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Elections Authority in various electoral elections abroad reflects the keenness to ensure the success of these elections and to enable Egyptian voters to fulfill their constitutional right to vote, appreciating the great effort made by the heads of Egyptian diplomatic missions and their members in this regard. The matter.

Counsel Ahmed Bandari conducted direct communications via “video conferencing” technology. A number of Egyptian ambassadors and consuls, who head the polling committees abroad, confirmed that the polling committees began their work on schedule at nine in the morning, and that the electoral process is proceeding calmly, regularly, and without any obstacles.

A number of Egyptian ambassadors, especially in the Arab countries, confirmed that the committees they supervise have witnessed a significant influx of voters to cast their votes, amid expectations of a greater turnout following the end of Friday prayer times, while ambassadors in a number of other countries confirmed that today, Friday, is an official working day in the countries in which they are located, and that they expect voters to attend more following the end of the official working hours and tomorrow, Saturday, as it will be a weekly day off. Official.

The second phase of the elections includes 13 governorates: “Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai”.

The total number of those entitled to cast their votes in the second phase of the elections is 34 million and 611 thousand voters, while the number of candidates running in the competition under the individual system in this phase is 1,316 candidates, competing for 141 individual seats, in addition to one list for the two electoral sectors under the system. Lists.

The heads of the Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad, including ambassadors and consuls, are responsible for direct supervision of the voting of Egyptians abroad inside the electoral headquarters, under the umbrella of the National Elections Authority and its follow-up of all aspects of the voting process.
