Matthews Lima: Ready to take on attacking responsibility

Shabab Al-Ahly player Matthews Lima confirmed that he is ready to assume offensive responsibility in the coming period, and to compensate for the absence of the Iranian striker, Sardar Azmoun, indicating that he will do his best to help the team and make the fans who support the team happy in all matches.

He told “Emirates Today” that he went through a difficult period at the beginning of the season, due to the injury that kept him out of the first two rounds, before he began to regain his readiness and gradually return to the team roster. Lima explained: “I was absent at the beginning due to the injury, but I gradually returned and began to participate with the team. We are always looking to please the fans of Shabab Al-Ahly, and their continuous support makes us give everything we have on the field.”

Regarding the absence of Sardar Azmoun and his influence on the team, he said: “Last season I was present during the period of Sardar’s absence as well, and I succeeded in proving my ability to lead the team’s attack. The situation is certainly different this season, but I will do my best and give my best to help the team and take a step forward.”

This season, Lima participated in six matches in the ADNOC Professional League for 345 minutes without scoring any goals so far, despite scoring six goals last season. However, he showed his strong presence in the Professional League Cup (Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup), after he led the team to victory over Al-Nasr in the first leg of the quarter-finals by scoring two goals in the match that ended 2-1.
