Frenchman Basiliko and Russian Petrova win the Spartan World Championship in Abu Dhabi

Frenchman Gregory Basilico succeeded in defending his world title, after winning the title of the fifth edition of the Spartan World Championship for the elite category for men, which was held in the Al Wathba desert in Abu Dhabi, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and in cooperation with “Spartan”, the most prominent brand in the world in endurance and obstacle sports.
Basilico won the title after topping the 21-kilometre (Best) race, overcoming 30 obstacles, in a time of two hours, 12 minutes and 17 seconds, ahead of Russian Sergey Burligin, who came in second place in a time of two hours, 16 minutes and 37 seconds, while American Joshua Kashet came third in a time of two hours, 18 minutes and 55 seconds.
In the women’s elite category, the Russian, Alyssa Petrova, also succeeded in defending her title, after winning first place in a time of two hours, 36 minutes and 13 seconds, with a difference of nearly five minutes from the American, Annie Dube, who came second in a time of two hours, 41 minutes and 34 seconds, then the Slovakian, Ester Hotopagiova, in third place in a time of two hours and 47 minutes.
The winners were crowned by the Assistant Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, the Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Talal Al Hashemi, and the founder of Spartan, Joe De Sena.
