The Foreign Minister meets with his Portuguese counterpart on the sidelines of the African-European Summit

Minister Abdel Aty indicated the keenness to advance bilateral relations between Egypt and Portugal in the political, economic and cultural fields, stressing the commitment to continue working to develop and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries in a way that achieves the common interest, especially with the 50th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Portugal, noting the necessity of continuing the pace of cooperation between the two countries and holding the third round of the joint committee to lay the foundations for future cooperation. between the two countries in various fields of common interest.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the Portuguese positions in support of Egypt within the framework of the European Union institutions, stressing the necessity of building on the outcomes of the first Egyptian-European summit held on October 22, 2025, especially with regard to the economic event held on its sidelines, stressing that the summit contributed to pushing the strategic partnership between the Egyptian and European sides to broader new horizons, expressing the aspiration that it would contribute to attracting more European investments to the Egyptian market, including investments Portuguese, especially in the Suez Canal economic zone. He also stressed the aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of immigration, so that cooperation is not limited only to areas related to combating illegal immigration, but also includes cooperation in the field of regular immigration, labor training, and employment. 

Minister Abdel-Ati praised the Portuguese decision to officially recognize the Palestinian state during the month of September 2025, reviewing the Egyptian efforts made over more than two years to end the war in the Gaza Strip and bring humanitarian aid into the Strip, stressing the role Inspirational to the international community to ensure the consolidation of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement and move forward with the reconstruction of the Strip, stressing that  The importance of implementing the Security Council resolution on Gaza and the necessity of enabling the International Stabilization Force to carry out its mandate.
