The Big Five exhibition showcases smart and sustainable solutions in the fields of construction and development

Dubai, November 25 / WAM / The “Big 5 Global” exhibition, on its second day at the Dubai World Trade Center, addressed various topics such as liveable and interconnected cities, the world’s first robot for paving concrete blocks capable of achieving ten times greater productivity, passing through a water tank that is the largest of its kind, and other smart and sustainable solutions to seize global opportunities in the fields of construction and development.
The momentum of the exhibition continued with a large turnout of attendees across more than 20 halls, and visitors had the opportunity to listen to the most important sector experts about the importance of aligning efforts between the government and private sectors to accelerate the development of more efficient future cities.
His Excellency Dr. Saif Sultan Al Nasri, Acting Undersecretary of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, participated in the opening session during the second day of the two-day LiveableCitiesX Summit.
In this context, it is noteworthy that Abu Dhabi has made a qualitative leap from tenth to fifth place in the IMD Smart Cities Index in just 12 months, thanks to an ideal combination of thoughtful urban planning, effective community participation, and real-time feedback. Today, the Emirati capital aspires to achieve first place in the world.
His Excellency Al Nasiri explained that the main initiatives that support the emirate’s progress include dynamic urban planning and the widespread use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to anticipate the needs of the population, in addition to the establishment of more than 200 community gardens that enhance interconnectedness, an active lifestyle, and inclusivity for all age groups.
One of the summit sessions witnessed a discussion about the concept of time and how to maximize its use in the modern world, in which Nada Taryam, CEO of Real Estate Affairs at Bee’ah Group, participated, along with Engineer Nasser bin Salem Al-Wadi, General Manager of Projects at the Riyadh Municipality, Dr. Nadine Bitar Shaheen, Vice President of the International Union of Landscape Architects, and others.
Nada Taryam said that the Bee’ah Group, which is based in Sharjah and began as a waste management company, operates 50 recycling facilities, while non-recyclable materials are sent to a waste-to-energy plant that feeds about 100,000 homes, noting that our participation in the Big 5 exhibition confirms our commitment to advancing the process of integrated cities with a low environmental impact and centered on people. As new environmental solutions enter the market, our focus is on practical applications that enable cleaner operations, stronger resilience, and urban growth. Smarter urban experiences that put human well-being first.
The experts discussed the role of artificial intelligence, data and robotics in reshaping the construction industry.
The session, “Government Perspective: Building the Future – Dubai’s Construction Sector and Regulatory Excellence,” focused on Dubai Municipality’s efforts to transform the emirate into one of the most advanced construction systems ready for the future.
Charlie Sheridan, Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer at Nemechek Group, spoke about the new generation of artificial intelligence tools capable of enhancing creativity and productivity and unifying data and processes across the value chain from design to construction.
In the session “Ask an Innovator: Smarter Spending Under Pressure,” Douglas Zuzik, Chief Digital Officer at Innovo, explained that innovation is being driven by customer expectations, evolving legislation, and the need to enhance efficiency in major real estate and infrastructure projects.
The “Big Five” exhibition continued to unveil new products, including the announcement of “Buildroid AI”, an emerging American company in the field of robotics that recently raised $2 million in seed funding, about the launch of the first robot for paving concrete blocks. The robot achieves ten times greater productivity and a four-fold reduction in cost compared to manual work.
DSS+, the global company specializing in operations management consulting, also announced the launch of its new program, “Safety Excellence for the Next Generation,” in conjunction with a session presented by Ihsan Akhuan, the company’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, about human performance as a basis for excellence in construction. The program aims to enhance a culture of safety, operational discipline and excellence in performance in projects in the region.
Today, during the activities of the Big 5 Exhibition, Al Bassam Company was honored, which last August received official recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the largest plastic water tank in the world. The company used advanced blow molding technology and high-density, recyclable materials to develop the first tank of its kind with a capacity of 21,007 litres. Not only is the tank unique in its standard size, but it also reflects a commitment to sustainability, adheres to government standards and provides a durable, reusable water storage solution.
