"Madbouly and Gharib" They launch the work of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Seifi Gharib, Prime Minister of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, chaired the work of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee, which was held today at the Council of Ministers headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss a number of issues and files of common interest and to enhance cooperation paths between the two countries.

 

Two high-ranking delegations from both sides participated in the discussions, including a number of ministers and officials specialized in Political, economic and development files. The Prime Minister welcomed the Algerian Prime Minister, congratulating him on assuming his new position. He also conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, confirming the directives of the political leadership to deepen cooperation with Algeria and raise it to the level of a strategic partnership.

Madbouly stressed that the Egyptian-Algerian relations are solid and historical, based on the values of solidarity and mutual support, noting that President El-Sisi’s meeting with the Algerian delegation Yesterday reflected the strength of relations between the two countries, and the broad prospects for cooperation they hold. He also pointed out that the two leaders held a phone call last month to discuss regional developments and ways to enhance stability in the region.

During the discussions, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the joint higher committee as one of the most prominent bilateral coordination mechanisms, stressing Egypt’s aspiration to establish joint industrial projects that enhance integration between the Egyptian and Algerian economies, especially in the energy, industry, and infrastructure sectors, in addition to cooperation in transportation, railway and electrical connectivity, and the exchange of expertise in the fields of communications, construction, and renewable energy.

He also stressed the importance of The Egyptian-Algerian Business Forum, which is held in parallel with the committee’s meetings, is a platform for presenting investment opportunities, discussing the requirements of the private sector, and expanding economic partnerships.

With regard to the Palestinian issue, Madbouly explained that Egypt and Algeria share a firm position towards supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and establishing their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, indicating Egypt’s readiness to host an international conference for recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip within days. For his part, the Algerian Prime Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the warm reception, stressing the Algerian leadership’s keenness to push bilateral cooperation forward towards higher levels of economic integration, pointing to the success of existing partnerships between the two countries in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, infrastructure and agriculture, and the promising opportunities provided by the new Algerian investment law to attract Egyptian investments.

Sefi Gharib called for strengthening the role of investment authorities and chambers of commerce in the two countries. To increase intra-investment and encourage companies to explore the opportunities available in the Egyptian and Algerian markets.

During the discussions, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of transport and industry, stressing the agreement to expand cooperation in the sectors of spinning, weaving and the automobile industry. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat also presented the results of the technical committee meetings that concluded with cooperation agreements in the fields of industry, renewable energy, culture and tourism, while the Minister of Education affirmed Egypt’s readiness to enhance cooperation in the field of technical education and curriculum development.

The Algerian ministers expressed their appreciation for the Egyptian efforts and their agreement with their Egyptian counterparts on the necessity of accelerating the implementation of cooperation protocols and increasing the volume of trade exchange during the coming period.

At the conclusion of the meetings, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly stressed Egypt’s keenness to follow up on the implementation of the agreements that were reached. His signature, stressing that Algeria’s strength and stability are a pillar of Arab stability, and that relations between the two countries are moving towards a new phase of effective partnership that meets the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
