Dar Al-Iftaa continues its training program for Sharia researchers at the Dar with specialized lectures on fatwa drafting skills

The training center at the Egyptian Fatwa House organized a series of specialized lectures within the Sharia Researchers Training Program under the title “Skills for Drafting Sharia Fatwas,” which included a number of scientific and professional topics aimed at raising the efficiency of researchers and empowering them with contemporary fatwa drafting tools.

Sheikh Muhammad Kamal, Director of the Electronic Fatwa Department, presented the first lecture entitled “Electronic Libraries,” where he addressed the definition of the comprehensive encyclopedia and explained the stages. Its development, with an explanation of its four editions and a focus on the practical applications of the third and fourth editions. 

He also explained how to deal with the “Encyclopedia of Jurisprudence” And the “Mosque of Islamic Jurisprudence” Through direct practical exercises on electronic research methods, the lecture witnessed remarkable interaction from the participants who implemented the applications under the supervision of the lecturer.

The second lecture was entitled “Fatwa Writing,” in which Dr. Amr Al-Shall, Director of the Sharia Research Department, lectured, explaining the scientific foundations and main conditions for formulating a fatwa, stressing the necessity of combining fatwa and linguistic skills. He reviewed the correct methodology for writing a fatwa, starting with depicting the issue and mentioning evidence and reliable sayings, all the way to editing the chosen statement and presenting the chosen opinion for the fatwa in a clear and concise way that contributes to providing accurate fatwas to the community.

Dr. Ali Al-Mahdi, Secretary of the Council of Senior Scholars and Assistant Professor of Jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, also presented the third lecture entitled “Sharia Research,” in which he explained the criteria for formulating a fatwa question, first and foremost clarity, precise definition of the incident, and its connection to needs. Society. 

He discussed the criteria for formulating the answer in terms of accuracy of wording, avoiding digression, and stating the opinion chosen for the fatwa. The lecture witnessed the presentation of applied models for contemporary issues, emphasizing the importance of controlling the societal impact of the fatwa and achieving its objectives in alleviating embarrassment and building confidence.

While the fourth lecture was entitled “The Model Structure of the Fatwa,” Dr. Amr Al-Wardani, Secretary of the Fatwa and member of the Supreme Advisory Committee at the Fatwa House, addressed the concept of the model structure of the fatwa as a framework that guarantees the completion of the fatwa structure, explaining the difference between the structure and the fatwa structure and the necessity of looking at it as a An accurate road map. 

He stressed that fatwas require the highest levels of honesty and soundness of the method, pointing out that studying the model structure contributes to achieving quality, controlling fatwa performance, and building confidence among those who respond, while stating the major goals of fatwas in preserving the unity of society and directing texts to achieve the interests of the people.

Today’s program concluded with a fifth lecture entitled “Discussing the Fatwa Project,” presented by Dr. Muhammad Wissam, Fatwa Secretary and member of the committee. The Supreme Advisory Council at Dar Al-Iftaa, where he discussed a draft fatwa entitled “The Prohibition of Asking Forgiveness for the Mother of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him.” His Eminence reviewed the context of the legal question and the jurisprudential evidence related to it, while explaining the methodology for drafting the fatwa step by step, stressing the necessity of dealing with sensitive issues with a high degree of wisdom and scientific accuracy. The lecture contributed to enhancing the skills of researchers in preparing fatwas based on correct evidence and established methodology.

These lectures come within the framework of the Egyptian Fatwa House’s keenness to develop the capabilities of legal researchers and build a generation capable of practicing fatwa work according to a well-established scientific methodology that responds to the needs of contemporary society.
