"Emergencies and crises" In Abu Dhabi, he discusses cooperation with the Finnish National Rescue Organization

Helsinki, 27 November / WAM / The Center for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi discussed opportunities for future cooperation and partnership with the Finnish National Rescue Organization (SPEK), during an official visit by the Center’s delegation to Finland as part of its keenness to exchange knowledge and experiences with the leading global centers in the fields of emergency management and crisis response.

During the visit, the Centre’s delegation, headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Hamarain Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of the Response and Recovery Sector, reviewed the Centre’s strategy for crisis management and the operational model of the emergency, crisis and disaster management system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

For its part, the Finnish National Rescue Organization reviewed models related to institutional and community preparedness, training, exercises, planning procedures, advanced capabilities, and relevant common topics, in addition to volunteer activities and preparedness, including the concept of “72-hour readiness” and coordination frameworks between the agencies concerned with the response.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Hamarain Al Dhaheri confirmed that this visit comes within the framework of the Center’s commitment to the vision of the Abu Dhabi government towards enhancing international cooperation and exchanging experiences with leading global institutions in the fields of emergency, crisis and disaster management, in a way that enhances the readiness of the local system and its ability to prepare and respond efficiently and effectively to various challenges and showcase the Center’s experience in the specialized fields.

He added that the Center continuously seeks to develop its tools and methodology in crisis management by reviewing the latest operational models and internationally approved practices, and benefiting from distinguished international experiences in the areas of community preparedness, training and institutional capacity building, pointing out that the visit of the Finnish National Rescue Organization provided the Center with a valuable opportunity to learn closely about a unique model that combines technical innovation and institutional integration in the preparedness and response system.

His Excellency explained that the center is working to align its local system with the best international standards by enhancing institutional and societal flexibility, supporting the smart response system, and developing joint programs that contribute to raising the efficiency of work teams and qualifying local cadres, in a way that ensures community safety and sustainable development in the emirate.
