The attacker was injured. Trump describes the Washington attack as “terrorist”

Today, US President Donald Trump described the attack on members of the National Guard in the US capital as a terrorist act, and ordered the deployment of 500 additional members of the National Guard in Washington.

A gunman opened fire on members of the US National Guard in Washington, on Wednesday, in an area near the White House, seriously wounding two Guard members.

US authorities said that the attack was an ambush, and that the attacker was also injured.

The American media confirmed that the person who opened fire was an Afghan citizen named Rahmanullah Lakkanwal, 29 years old, who entered the United States in 2021.

In this regard, Trump said that the United States must reconsider every foreigner who entered the United States from Afghanistan during Joe Biden’s presidency, noting that the suspected shooter in Washington came to the United States from Afghanistan in 2021.

He added, “The shooting attack that targeted members of the National Guard was a terrorist act and a crime against humanity, and we will ensure that justice is achieved for the perpetrator of the Washington attack.”

The US President stressed that the attack on the National Guard represents the greatest threat to national security facing our country, considering that the heinous attack on Washington is a terrorist act and a crime against our entire country.

Trump continued, “The previous administration allowed the entry of 20 million unknown foreigners from around the world who were not vetted.”

“We will not tolerate these kinds of attacks on law and order from people who should not be in our country,” Trump said. “America will not surrender in the face of terrorism and we will not allow ourselves to be deterred from the mission that our service members have so nobly performed.”
