"Creative media" Enabling young talents in Abu Dhabi to participate in international film productions


ABU DHABI, 27 November / WAM / The Creative Media Authority and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission announced that they have enabled six trainees from local talents and cadres to undertake field training and participate in the production of the international film “Now You See: Now You Don’t”, a large portion of whose scenes were filmed in Abu Dhabi, which reflects the authority’s commitment to empowering creative talents in the emirate and developing their skills by giving them the opportunity to have direct contact and work with pioneers and experts in various fields of production stages.
Lionsgate’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, now in theaters around the world, was the #1 worldwide grosser during its opening weekend, with $147.5 million at the global box office to date.
The trainees participated in working and giving added value in various stages of production, starting from photography and location management to costumes and the production process, which contributed to their acquisition of professional knowledge by informing them of the best practices and standards that are applied on the sets of large international productions.
Aisha Al Junaibi, Director of the Talent Development Department at the Creative Media Authority, said: “The Creative Media Authority continues its efforts to empower local talent and enhance their active role in shaping the future of the creative industries in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We are keen to provide them with field training opportunities and work experiences on filming sites, in a way that suits their skills and passions, and meets the needs of our partners in the production sector, in addition to supporting our vision aimed at sustaining the development of the local creative talent system and enhancing their competitive capabilities on the global stage.”
Regarding field training within the filming sites of international productions, the trainees described their experiences as inspiring and supportive to achieve their professional ambitions in the field of cinema, as the trainee in the production department, Bushra Waseem, expressed her happiness with this exceptional opportunity that enabled her to learn closely about the minute details related to the production sector, and to gain field experiences that strengthened her comprehensive vision for the film industry.
The trainee in the fashion department, Sheikha Al-Junaibi, confirmed that field work on the sets of international cinematic productions with pioneers and specialists is considered a gateway to exploring the scenes of production work and learning about professional work practices. She thanked the Creative Media Authority and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission for their efforts in supporting young talents and enabling them to participate in international cinematic works.
Since 2020, the Creative Media Authority and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission have contributed to providing more than 300 training opportunities in more than 100 production works that included feature films, documentaries, reality shows, and advertisements, inside and outside the United Arab Emirates, where Emirati citizens constituted more than 50% of the participants, while 19 trainees obtained international experience in countries such as Romania, Egypt, Australia, Canada, Bulgaria, Hungary, Malta, and the United States. United States of America. Today, more than 40 former trainees are working professionally within the film and media sectors in Abu Dhabi, which reflects the sustainable impact of the Creative Media Authority’s commitment to creating real career paths for creative talents and enabling them to build their future in this growing industry.
