An Afghan man was charged after shooting two members of the National Guard near the White House

An Afghan has been charged with shooting two National Guard members from West Virginia just blocks from the White House in a blatant act of violence.
The suspect was also shot and sustained injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cash Patel, and Muriel Bowser, Mayor of Washington, DC, said that the two National Guard members were taken to the hospital in critical condition after the shooting that took place yesterday afternoon, Wednesday. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrissey retracted his statement issued yesterday, in which he announced the death of the two guards, noting that he had received “conflicting reports” regarding their condition.
On Thursday morning, Attorney General Pam Bondi declined to comment on the condition of the two National Guard members who were shot, but she said during her appearance on Fox News that they “underwent surgery.”
Bondi added that the charges against the suspect will be based on “predicting the course of injury” of the guards, noting: “If anything happens, I will inform you now. I will inform you early. We will do our best to impose the death penalty on that monster.”
CIA Director John Ratcliffe said that the suspect in the shooting incident was working with the CIA and the US government in Afghanistan before arriving in the United States.
