The Foreign Minister meets his Lebanese counterpart in Barcelona

He met Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, today, Friday, Youssef Raji, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Lebanese Republic, on the sidelines of the 10th Regional Forum of Foreign Ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries, as Minister Abdel Ati affirmed Egypt’s pride in the depth of the ties it has with brotherly Lebanon, and its keenness to Continue to support Lebanese state institutions and enhance cooperation in the political, economic and development fields, and build on the positive momentum witnessed in relations, including the results of the tenth session of the Joint Higher Committee held recently in Cairo.
Minister Abdel Ati noted during the meeting his recent visit to Beirut and the intensive communication that Egypt conducted with various Lebanese parties, stressing that any effort made by Cairo stems from principles based on supporting Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty and stability, and enhancing the ability of its national institutions to face challenges. The meeting also dealt with developments in the situation in Gaza, where Minister Abdel Ati stressed the importance of fully implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 regarding Gaza, and enabling the International Stabilization Force to perform its tasks, in addition to advancing efforts for early recovery and reconstruction, given that the success of these paths contributes to enhancing stability at the level of the region as a whole, including the Lebanese arena.
The two sides concluded the meeting by emphasizing the continuation of close coordination between Cairo and Beirut, and joint work to preserve Stabilizing the region and supporting Arab issues.
