Minister of Justice: The Medical Liability Law enables the doctor to practice his noble mission

Counsel Adnan Fanjiri, Minister of Justice, stressed the importance of discussing the law, as it provides in confronting the challenges facing the health system, and its goal is to achieve balance between the patient and doctors, and ensure a safe working environment for medical staff.
This came during a discussion session entitled “The role of the Public Prosecution in achieving a balance between patient safety and ensuring a safe working environment for medical staff,” which was organized by the Public Prosecution, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and the Minister of Health participated in its work. Justice, Counselor Adnan Fanjiri, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, the Presidential Advisor for Health and Preventive Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Awad Taj al-Din, and a group of senior officials in health institutions.
Counsel Adnan Fanjiri, Minister of Justice, said that the law came in an integrated structure and there is no contradiction in it, according to what experience has established, which allows the doctor to practice his noble mission and not expose him to accountability according to an independent technical vision, in addition to the creation of a settlement committee. And authorizing reconciliation without prejudice to the patient’s rights.
He explained that this law is a step in light of the state’s commitment to caring for human rights and ensuring his safety. He pointed out that the law represents a societal need, to enhance trust between the citizen and state institutions, in addition to that it was the result of broad institutional cooperation to address a group of challenges that were affecting the parties to the health relationship.
He added that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had clear directives to The law shall be a pillar for the progress of the health sector, and shall guarantee the patient’s right, while granting the doctor the necessary protection that enables him to perform his mission.
He pointed out that the law organized clear mechanisms that clarify professional error in the context of work, and distinguish it from serious error, as well as organizing compensation and reconciliation mechanisms without prejudice to the patient’s rights, stressing that the law represents a solid step in a path adopted by the state to enhance confidence in institutions and make the human being the principle and goal.
