Health oversight: 19 health facilities succeeded in obtaining accreditation with comprehensive health insurance

The General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, announced, in an official statement today, the latest decisions of the Supreme Accreditation Committee, where (19) health facilities obtained (full/initial) accreditation or renewed It was accredited, in accordance with the standards issued by “GAHAR”, which obtained international accreditation from “ESCWA”, after evaluating the health services in these facilities and ensuring that they meet all necessary requirements.
The committee’s decisions included granting the initial accreditation certificate to both the “Digestive System, Liver and Internal Diseases Hospital in Suez”, and “Kom Ombo Hospital in Aswan”, within the governorates of the first phase, in a way that supports the sustainability of the system’s implementation. Comprehensive health insurance, and enhances patients’ experience through rapid access to advanced health services in accordance with the highest levels of international quality.
The decisions also included obtaining (full/initial) accreditation for five family medicine units and centers, thus achieving a qualitative leap in the level of primary care services, which are:
– Al-Tunab Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
– Al-Wagadab Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
– Qorta Third Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
– Sheikh Zayed Family Medicine Center In Ismailia
– Iskar Family Medicine Unit in Giza (initial) – affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population
Within the framework of the health facilities’ commitment to implementing “Jahar” standards, the committee decided to renew the accreditation of “Shifa Specialized Hospital in Cairo” and “June 30 Hospital in Port Said”, ensuring the continued provision of high-quality and safe health services to patients.
The report also indicated the success of ten affiliated facilities. For the private sector and civil society organizations to obtain accreditation/initial accreditation from GAHAR, divided into seven facilities that have been granted a full accreditation certificate.
This is in addition to granting initial accreditation to three other private facilities, namely:
– Al-Shifa Modern Center for Newborn and Premature Infants in Luxor
– Clinics and the Nile Specialized Nurseries Unit "as a specialized center for nurseries" Qena
– Al-Nada Medical Hospital in Luxor
The head of the Health Accreditation and Supervision Authority stressed that the private sector’s commitment to applying quality standards issued by Jahar and internationally accredited contributes to raising patients’ confidence, improving operating efficiency, and reducing medical errors, in addition to supporting opportunities for contracting with the comprehensive health insurance system, and developing competitiveness in the health market.
He pointed out that the authority’s publications of standards guides include standards designated for hospitals and analysis laboratories. Medical centers, specialized medical centers and one-day surgeries, physical therapy centers, radiology centers, and mental health hospitals, which contributes to unifying the level of quality of care and improving patient safety in various sectors of service provision, and enhances the ability of the private sector to apply medical practices in accordance with the highest levels of international quality.
Dr. Ahmed Taha stressed that accreditation is not limited to verifying the quality of services, but also supports enhancing the competitiveness of health facilities in the market, which contributes to achieving the state’s goals in developing health care in accordance with international best practices.
