The project “The Great Transfiguration on the Land of Peace” was crowned In St. Catherine, it won first prize at the “Middle East Landscape 2025” conference and exhibition. Which was held in Abu Dhabi under the slogan “Nature and Society”.
The victory of the project, which is supervised by “Sites International”, within the field of “Planning and Landscape Architecture to Preserve Heritage”, was decided by an international jury that included 14 arbitrators, during a handover ceremony. Awards.
The "The Greatest Transfiguration" project embodies An exceptional combination of environmental planning, landscape architecture, and the preservation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of one of the holiest sites in the world, the site where God Almighty appeared and spoke to Moses, peace be upon him, and which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The design and implementation of the project took five years, based on sustainability-based planning, during which close cooperation took place between government agencies, design and contracting companies, in addition to St. Catherine’s Monastery and the Bedouin communities. Local.
The general plan focuses on complete harmony with nature, respecting the spiritual axes, while preserving the valley and surroundings of the monastery untouched. The project also includes eco-lodges, visitor facilities, and heritage-based economic initiatives. The initiative adopts innovative water management systems, where flood water and treated water are collected and reused to irrigate orchards and support Bedouin agriculture, which restores balance to the natural landscape.
The project is considered a pioneering model for renewable heritage tourism, where the preservation of one of the most sublime religious and cultural sites in the world is transformed into living care that enhances the quality of life and well-being.
