A “historic remontada” for Palestine forces a draw against Tunisia

The Palestine national team turned a two-goal deficit into a historic draw with its Tunisian counterpart, 2-2, in the second round of the first group matches in the 2025 Arab Cup at Lusail Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, raising the “Fedayi” score to four points and approaching qualification to the quarter-finals, while the “Carthage Eagles” obtained its first point in the tournament, and complicated its position in the calculations of advancing to the quarter-finals.
The Tunisia national team entered the first half, imposing its rhythm on the midfield and controlling the pace of play through quick passing of the ball and continuous progress for the full-backs. This early pressure contributed to the first dangerous opportunity in the tenth minute, when Ali Maaloul executed a perfect corner kick to which Firas Al-Shawat rose with a strong header, but goalkeeper Rami Hamada shone and saved the Palestine goal from a certain opportunity.
The Tunisian pressure continued, which resulted in the first goal in the sixteenth minute through an exciting scenario inside the penalty area, as Ismail Gharbi played a corner kick, and Chaouat met with a powerful header that Hamada parried brilliantly, before Ferjani Sassi followed the ball and shot an attempt that was blocked by the goalkeeper again, but Tunisian insistence decided the shot when Omar Layouni rushed and completed the ball into the net, giving the “Eagles of Carthage” a well-deserved advantage after a series of successive attempts.
Despite Tunisia’s field superiority, the Palestine national team entered the match after 35 minutes, and the team moved better in the offensive line, where Hamed Hamdan played a perfect cross in front of Mohamed Saleh, who passed the ball in front of him before he shot it into the goal (37).
The Carthage Eagles continued their advantage in the second half, and the team strengthened its lead by adding the second goal when Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan snatched the ball from Milad Termaniai and played a beautiful ball to Firas Shawat, who completed it into the goal (51).
On the other hand, “Al-Fedayi” presented its best level in the match after pressing hard and becoming more organized in building attacks, and Hamed Hamdan scored the first goal in a wonderful way from a rocket ball he shot from outside the penalty area that entered the goal (61).
The Palestine national team imposed its control on the midfield, and threatened goalkeeper Ayman Dahman with powerful shots, most notably a wonderful ball from Hamed Hamdan that passed near the post, before Zaid Al-Qanbar scored the second goal from a follow-up to a ball played by Mohamed Zidane, which Al-Qanbar completed with a powerful shot into the goal (85), while goalkeeper Rami Hamada excelled in a miraculous way in stopping Ismail Al-Gharbi’s ball in the 90th minute, so that the match ended in a draw between the two teams.
