The Foreign Minister and Grossi discuss by telephone cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, discussed, during a phone call, with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the Agency in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy, in support of national development efforts, especially the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, which is a model of cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the Agency.
Minister Abdel Aty expressed – during the call – Egypt’s full support. The important role played by the International Atomic Energy Agency within the framework of the verification system under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and its statute, stressing that Egypt attaches great importance to preserving the principle of the universality of the treaty and non-proliferation and the credibility of the treaty as a basic pillar of the nuclear non-proliferation system.
He also expressed his aspiration to continue coordination and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The call dealt with the Iranian nuclear file, where he stressed Minister Abdel Ati stressed the importance of continuing efforts aimed at reducing escalation, building confidence, and creating the necessary conditions for the continuation of existing cooperation, which provides a real opportunity for diplomatic solutions and the resumption of dialogue with the aim of reaching a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear file that takes into account the interests of all parties, and contributes to achieving regional security and stability.
