Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi witnesses the signing of a partnership between "sun" and"Sharjah Islamic"

Sharjah, December 10, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, witnessed this morning the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Sharjah Media City “Shams” and Sharjah Islamic Bank, with the aim of supporting the film industry and creative content in the Emirate of Sharjah, during his visit to the activities of the “Bridge 2025” summit held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center “ADNEC”.
The agreement was signed by Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, and Rashid Abdullah Al-Obed, Director General of Sharjah Media City “Shams”.
The agreement aims to provide innovative financing programs to support filmmakers and companies operating in the media sector, and to enable them to benefit from the advanced production infrastructure provided by Sharjah Media City, such as the “Shams Studios” project, one of the most prominent future media projects in the region, which seeks to build an integrated system that enhances the emirate’s position as a regional center for the creative content industry.
The partnership between the city and the bank will support the media, economic and creative sector, which is a major driver of economic growth in recent years, supports the emirate’s trend towards creating a world-class production environment, and enhances investor confidence in the available opportunities and multiple projects that represent a qualitative shift in the field of film and television production, and contribute to developing future sectors and supporting creative talents in the UAE.
The agreement will also contribute to the development of the integrated media infrastructure that supports content creators at all stages of production, in addition to creating a sustainable financial system that allows creators, startups, and production studios the ability to implement their projects within the emirate more easily, through flexible financing solutions designed specifically for the creative sector.
The agreement will contribute to enabling national and regional talents to transform their ideas into visual works on the ground, and will embody the growing role of the Emirate of Sharjah in developing the media and film industry sector, by providing an integrated production environment that includes modern filming facilities and specialized post-production spaces.
