The Minister of Labor witnesses the delivery of subsidies and benefits to the families of victims and injured of irregular employment

The Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gibran, witnessed today, via video conference, the delivery of financial aid and entitlements to the families of victims and injured of irregular workers in three governorates, from the central account for irregular workers, within the framework of the Ministry’s role in providing social care and supporting families affected by emergency accidents. The Minister explained that an amount of 2 million pounds had been approved from the accident subsidy item, distributed as follows: 200 thousand pounds for the family of each death out of 9 cases, and 20 thousand pounds for each injured person out of 10 cases.
His Excellency the Minister confirmed that these aids come in support of the families of the victims and those injured in a number of unfortunate accidents that the governorates witnessed during the last period, including: a collision of transport vehicles on the desert road in the Giza Governorate, a suffocation accident inside a sewage pit in the Sharkia Governorate, and the drowning accident of the agricultural worker “the martyr of chivalry.” In Ismailia Governorate while trying to save a number of girls from drowning.
The Minister stressed that the Egyptian state, under the directives of the political leadership, pays great attention to the care of irregular workers and their families, and is working to strengthen the social protection network for them, especially in cases of emergencies and crises. He also directed the continued inventory of affected cases in all governorates, and the disbursement of urgent aid as soon as the required documents are verified, to relieve families and support them in difficult circumstances… Gibran concluded by affirming the Ministry’s commitment to developing the system of care for irregular workers, and strengthening occupational safety and health procedures, in order to preserve the lives of workers in various work sites.
