Labor inspects 1,516 establishments employing 23,000 workers

The Central Inspection Committee of the Ministry of Labor announced the results of its intensive campaigns that were carried out within just three days, and in full coordination with the labor directorates in the various governorates.

 

The committee explained in a statement today, Saturday, that the campaigns included inspection of 1,516 establishments employing 23,456 workers, as the efforts resulted in issuing 897 warnings to establishments that did not adhere to the validity of employment contracts, in addition to 130 A report was issued for violating the provisions of drafting contracts in accordance with the Labor Law. 

 

463 reports were also issued for establishments that did not adhere to the application of the minimum wage, in addition to 167 reports for violations of employing foreign workers without obtaining legal licenses, in addition to 48 warnings for establishments that did not implement the legal percentage stipulated for hiring people of determination by 5%.

 

The Ministry of Labor confirmed that these campaigns come within a comprehensive plan to monitor establishments to enhance compliance with the provisions of the new law, protect workers’ rights, and achieve a fair and stable work environment that supports production and helps improve the investment climate. 

 

Minister Muhammad Gibran stressed the continued intensification of inspection campaigns in various governorates to ensure compliance with the application of the minimum wage and the validity of contracts and licenses for foreign workers. In implementation of the directives of the political leadership to establish the principles of decent work, and provide a safe and stimulating work environment within production sites.

 

The Ministry also explained that it is continuing to implement awareness programs and introductory seminars for business owners and workers, with the aim of raising awareness of the provisions of the new law, and ensuring its optimal application, in order to achieve balance and stability in labor relations within the various production and service sectors.
