"Al Qasimi Publications" Issued "Al-Buraq and Laila Al-Afifa" By Sultan Al Qasimi

Sharjah, December 15 / WAM / Al Qasimi Publications issued the traditional poetic play “Al Buraq and Laila Al Afifa” by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. It is one of the famous stories of virginal love, chivalry and courage in Arabic literature, supported by a map showing the Arab tribes and clans that were known for their chivalry and honor, with the sources at the end of the play. Its events take place one hundred and forty years before the emergence of Islam in the country. Rabia bin Nizar Al-Adnaniyah, opposite the city of Shahramiyah (Ahwaz).
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi’s theatrical texts aim to push the audience to participate in critical thinking and historical and social analysis of the issues raised, especially the poetic ones, which are characterized by several prominent characteristics and features, especially those that deal with heritage and history.
His Highness most of his works are inspired by Arab and Islamic history and evoke its prominent symbols and personalities, with a special focus on the local history of the UAE and the Gulf region. That is, it is a rereading of the past, where it does not limit itself to narration, but rather rereads historical events and personalities to highlight their strengths and shortcomings and draw lessons.
From a reading of the poetic text, the author adhered to the rules of poetic theater, especially among the Arabs, a narrative dramatic style that focuses on the lyrical and metaphorical language, enhancing the emotional experiences of the characters. It also aims to convey deeper meanings and feelings through his unique linguistic approach to expression. It is theater that focuses on language and poetic forms and differs from violent and traditional dramatic expressions, focusing on the lyrical and metaphorical use of language with an emphasis on the Bedouin and human emotional feelings of the characters.
Poetic theater is distinguished in Arab history by its focus on the elegance of language. This theatrical style highlights the emotional charges of the characters, which creates a rich and expressive experience for the audience by focusing on the poetic aspects of dialogue, emotions, and performance. This theatrical form enhances the depth of the narrative and immerses viewers in the complexities of human and artistic feelings within the theatrical experience.
