The President of Childhood and Motherhood and the Governor of Assiut inaugurate the Council’s branch in the governorate

Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, opened the branch of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in the governorate, in implementation of the provisions of Law No. (182) of 2023 regulating the work of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, which stipulated the establishment of branches of the Council in the governorates in support of the principle of decentralization, and to facilitate the access of protection and care mechanisms for children in their locations, ensuring rapid response. And the effectiveness of the intervention.
The Council’s branch in Assiut is considered the third branch in the republic, after the opening of the Alexandria and Beni Suef branches, becoming a central branch serving the governorates of Upper Egypt.
Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati confirmed that the family is the first fortress and protective shield for children, as it is the environment in which their personalities are formed, values and principles are instilled, and through it they gain a sense of security. And belonging. Continuous dialogue and building bridges of trust between the family and children, allowing the child to express his problems and fears without fear or hesitation, stressing that positive education based on respect and sound guidance contributes to developing the child’s awareness of his rights and duties, and enhances his ability to distinguish between safe and unsafe behaviors.
She added that protecting children is a societal responsibility that begins with the family, in which the efforts of state institutions, civil society and the media combine to ensure the upbringing of generations capable of facing challenges, And fortified with values and morals, stressing that the real investment is investment in children, and that protecting children today is a guarantee for the future of the nation tomorrow.
Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati explained that the opening of the Council’s branch in Assiut acquires special importance, especially with the opening of the child-friendly room in the governorate, which represents a safe humanitarian space prepared to receive children who are victims or exposed to violence and abuse, and provide them with psychological and social support in accordance with national standards, and in a way that preserves their dignity. The child and puts his best interests at the forefront of intervention.
She pointed out that the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood is implementing a number of national initiatives in Assiut Governorate, including the “Dowie” initiative. To empower girls, and the “Bokra Bina” initiative To empower children, and the “Aware and Ghali” campaign To protect children from all forms of violence, in a way that enhances community awareness and supports the Egyptian family.
She also announced that the Council is about to launch the “Ghazal Banat” initiative, which is one of the purposeful awareness initiatives that aims to revive the heritage of each governorate, and focuses on empowering girls in the stages of childhood and adolescence, enhancing their self-confidence, and raising awareness of their rights to education and protection from all forms of violence, discrimination, and marriage. Children.
She explained that the initiative will provide interactive content appropriate to the target age groups, through workshops, videos, and artistic and cultural activities, encouraging self-expression and promoting positive family dialogue.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati and her accompanying delegation witnessed the closing ceremony of the children’s camps for the National Child Empowerment Initiative. “Tomorrow Pina”, which was implemented in Assiut Governorate with the aim of supporting children’s rights through various activities, and the ceremony included artistic performances that included a poetry recital, a singing performance, and a play entitled “Tomorrah Pina”.
For his part, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, stressed the governorate’s keenness to provide all aspects of support to the council branch, Due to the important and effective role it plays in protecting and caring for children and families, through the various activities and initiatives that are implemented to strengthen child protection mechanisms in the governorate. framework for enhancing joint cooperation between the governorate and the council, stressing its full support for all the council’s efforts in spreading community awareness and empowering children, expressing his happiness at the opening of the council’s branches nationwide, which reflects the great interest in childhood issues and supporting the rights of Egypt’s children.
