Al-Wasl finishes the group stage in first place without losing

Al-Wasl achieved a moral victory over Jordanian Al-Wahdat, 2-1, in the match that brought together the two teams this evening, Wednesday, at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, at the end of the first group matches of the AFC Champions League 2, in a confrontation that was characterized by calm and poor technical level as a result of it not affecting the standings of the two teams.
Al-Wasl raised its score to 14 points at the top of the group, after ensuring qualification to the round of 16 before the start of the match, while Al-Wahdat remained in fourth place with 4 points, leaving the tournament without changing its position.
Al-Wasl took the lead first through defender Edilson Silva after a perfect follow-up to Pedro’s cross from the right side, before Al-Wahdat managed to equalize through Mustafa Moawad.
But Al-Wasl quickly regained the lead thanks to Lima, who took advantage of a ball that bounced off the Jordanian goalkeeper and put it into the net, giving his team the third victory in the group stage.
Despite the absence of a strong club on the field, Al Wasl’s technical staff succeeded in giving a number of players the opportunity to participate and rest some of the key players before the upcoming February duels, which the observers considered an additional gain for the team, especially with the stability of the defensive performance and the success of the offensive system in exploiting the available opportunities.
Al-Wasl also appeared more organized during long periods of the match, with a clear improvement in possession and spread, while Al-Wahdat made limited attempts that did not pose much danger, with the exception of the equalizer shot.
With this victory, Al-Wasl concludes its campaign in the group stage with high confidence and without loss, heading to the next round of the continental championship, amid increasing ambitions to provide a strong performance and achieve a historic achievement for the club and its fans.
