Al-Wasl inflicts Al-Wahda’s first loss of the current season. Al-Shamsi makes a mistake and Palacios celebrates

Al-Wasl stopped Al-Wahda’s series of positive results, and inflicted on them their first loss in the current season, after defeating them with an unanswered goal, in the match that brought them together today, Friday, at the opening of the 11th round of the ADNOC Professional League.

Al-Wasl scored the only goal of the match through its player Brian Palacios, taking advantage of a mistake by Al-Wahda goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Shamsi in going out to clear Nicolas Jimenez’s pass, so Palacios put the ball into the net and gave “The Emperor” three valuable points (84).

With this victory, Al-Wasl paid back Al-Wahda, which had inflicted a heavy loss on them in the season before last, with a score of 4-1, stopping their streak of victories after playing 22 matches in the league at that time without losing.
Al-Wahda’s score stopped at 21 points, falling to third place in the rankings, while Al-Wasl rose to second place with the same score, in an intense struggle for the lead positions.

The match fell below expectations technically, especially in its first half, which was devoid of real chances, with the exception of a single shot by Ali Saleh that was blocked by Al Wahda’s goalkeeper firmly.

The second half witnessed a relative improvement in rhythm, and Omar Kharbin almost brought Al-Wahda back into the atmosphere of the match, after wasting his team’s most dangerous chances, but the intervention of Al-Wasl’s defense prevented that and moved the ball away to a corner kick, so that the “Emperor” maintained its lead until the final whistle.
