Emirates Pharmaceuticals announces the recall of some Nestlé infant formula products.

The Emirates Pharmaceutical Corporation and Nestlé announced a voluntary and precautionary recall of a limited number of infant formula products, Nan Comfort 1, Nan Optipro 1, Nan Supreme Pro 1,2,3, S26 Ultima 1,2,3, and Alfamino, as one of the production inputs contains traces of Bacillus cereus bacteria that can produce cereulide, in order to ensure the health and safety of consumers.
The Emirates Medicines Corporation stated that, to date, no disease cases associated with the affected batches have been recorded or confirmed and that all other Nestlé products are safe for consumption, stressing that the safety and quality of products in the country and the health of children are among its top priorities.
The Corporation confirmed that, in coordination with the company, the relevant batches available in its warehouses and distributors’ warehouses were seized, while continuing to complete the process of withdrawing the remaining quantities in accordance with the approved regulatory procedures.
The institution indicated that the measures taken are to protect the health of individuals and society, and that withdrawals are carried out in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities in the country to ensure that the affected payments are removed from all sales outlets, including electronic stores.
It is noteworthy that these measures come within the strategy of the Emirates Drug Corporation, which aims to consolidate the drug security system in the country and ensure the sustainability of the provision of medical products with the highest standards of quality and safety, as the corporation is based on an integrated control system that relies on proactive risk analysis and monitoring of drug supply chains locally and globally, thus enhancing the country’s ability to respond quickly to any emergency that may affect the availability or safety of medical products.
