The National Archives and Library proposes to provide specialized training courses for Gulf cadres

Doha, 9 January / WAM / During its participation in the work of the thirty-eighth session of the meeting of the General Secretariat of Documentation Bodies and Centers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was hosted by the Qatar Documentation House in Doha, the National Archives and the National Library presented its initiative proposal aimed at providing specialized training courses in the skills of managing and organizing archival records, targeting members of the General Secretariat, and workers in the bodies and documentation and archives centers in the GCC countries.
The National Archives and Library delegation, headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General, concluded its participation in the meeting, as the participation came as an affirmation of the UAE’s commitment to supporting Gulf documentary work, and enhancing integration and coordination between the bodies and centers concerned with preserving national memory and preserving the historical heritage of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Sheikha Faleh Al-Qahtani, technical advisor at the National Archives and Library, confirmed this while reviewing the details of the special initiative.
Providing specialized training courses, the importance of investing in building specialized competencies, and the necessity of expanding the scope of benefiting from modern training programs, in line with the requirements of digital transformation in the documentation and archiving sector.
She also highlighted what was accomplished within the initiative of the Oral Archive Committee, led by the Archives and the National Library, as part of institutional efforts aimed at documenting oral memory according to scientific methodologies and approved professional standards.
The National Archives and Library reviewed its participation in the “Khaleejiana” initiative, which seeks to strengthen the common Gulf identity and support cultural integration among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, through implementing documentary and cooperative projects that contribute to preserving and highlighting the Gulf historical heritage.
The Archives and the National Library also participated in the joint exhibition accompanying the meeting, which included the latest publications of the participating bodies and centers, including books and periodicals that document the history of the region and its most prominent milestones.
The thirty-eighth session concluded by emphasizing the importance of supporting digital initiatives in the fields of archiving and document preservation, intensifying training programs, and exchanging experiences between national centers, in addition to enhancing the definition of the shared Gulf memory through media and cultural platforms, as the participants stressed the importance of these periodic meetings, which constitute a basic pillar in the process of joint Gulf cooperation in the field of documents and archives.
