Syria.. Deployment of security forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo

Today, Saturday, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the deployment of internal security forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo.

The ministry said, in a press statement: “Internal security units began their deployment in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, as part of a deliberate plan aimed at restoring security and stability, following the elimination of the armed groups affiliated with the SDF organization at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army.”

She added: “The units began the tasks of protecting civilians, preserving public and private property, and preventing any violations or manifestations of chaos, in full coordination with the Syrian Arab Army units deployed in the neighborhood.”

The Governor of Aleppo, Azzam Al-Gharib, stated that the concerned authorities in the city of Aleppo are continuing their field work around the clock to establish security and ensure the return of normal life in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, calling on the people to fully adhere to the instructions issued by the competent authorities.

Al-Gharib confirmed that the curfew will continue in the areas announced by the Operations Authority, until subsequent circulars are issued, calling on the displaced “not to go to the aforementioned neighborhoods at the present time, except after prior coordination with the Aleppo Response Committee, in order to ensure their safety and to ensure the organization of their safe return.”

The Syrian army announced control over the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo this morning, after violent battles with SDF fighters. Thus, the Syrian army takes control of the entire neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo.

In turn, the Syrian Ministry of Health said, in a press statement today, that armed groups expelled workers and doctors from Yassin Hospital in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, and turned it into a military point where they were holed up, after they fled in front of the Syrian Arab Army. It called on civilians not to approach the hospital out of concern for their safety.
