The Head of State discusses with the President of the European Council the developments of the situation in the region and their serious effects on the security of international navigation and energy supplies

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, discussed developments in the situation in the region and their repercussions on regional and global security and peace, in addition to their serious effects on the security of international navigation, energy supplies, and the global economy.

This came during a meeting with His Highness the President of the State, Antonio Costa, who is visiting the country as part of a tour of the region.

The two sides also discussed the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and civilian installations and infrastructure in the UAE and countries of the region, as they represent a violation of international laws and norms and the undermining of regional security and stability. Costa stressed the European Council’s solidarity with the UAE and the countries of the region regarding the measures they are taking to preserve their security, stability, and the safety of their citizens.

During the meeting, the two sides also reviewed various aspects of cooperation and joint work between the UAE, the European Union and its member states, stressing their mutual keenness to support the negotiations of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the Strategic Partnership Agreement, in addition to emphasizing the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two sides at all levels in a way that enhances common interests and benefits everyone.

The meeting was attended by: His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and the families of martyrs, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and a number of officials.
