Mohamed Salah reveals the secret of Egypt’s victory over Côte d’Ivoire

The captain of the Egyptian national football team, Mohamed Salah, confirmed that “the team performance was the most important factor in achieving victory” over the defending champion Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) (3-2) on Saturday in Agadir and reaching the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Salah said in statements after the match, where he was chosen as the best player after scoring one goal and assisting another for Rami Rabia, “I am happy to win and reach the round of four, and I am grateful to be among this generation of national team players,” adding, “I am proud to wear the Egyptian national team shirt, and all the players appreciate the size of this shirt and the responsibility placed on their shoulders.”

The Liverpool star explained that his greatest ambition is to win the African Cup of Nations title, despite achieving most of the tournaments during his career.

He continued that the Egyptian national team has great players, whether professionals in Europe or in the Egyptian League, stressing that everyone is always fighting to win and achieve positive results.

He pointed out that receiving the award for best player in the match is a culmination of the entire team’s efforts, highlighting that the joy of the Egyptian fans represents a special value to him and a great motivation to continue his journey in the tournament.

He talked about the atmosphere of the current camp, saying: “This camp is the best in my football life. Everyone within the team is one family, from the technical staff to the players.”

For his part, coach Hossam Hassan confirmed that “the Pharaohs play every match as if it were a cup final,” noting that he has “big players who are the best, and we go into every match with appropriate plans for it.”

Hossam Hassan stressed the Pharaohs’ readiness to play anywhere in Morocco, explaining, “We faced a team that is the strongest in Africa, but we respect all teams, and we will prepare from now to match Senegal in the semi-finals.”
