Amna Al Dahak: The UAE places climate action at the top of its national agenda

ABU DHABI, 11 JANUARY / WAM / Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said that the work of the sixteenth session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which was established in Abu Dhabi in 2009, reflects the global position that the UAE enjoys in the renewable energy sector, noting that the General Assembly receives more than 1,500 participants from various countries of the world.
Her Excellency confirmed in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the UAE is always keen to support renewable energy files, especially in light of the outcomes of the COP28 Conference of the Parties, which resulted in the historic UAE agreement, the most prominent of which is the agreement to triple renewable energy production by 2030, explaining that these meetings contribute directly to supporting this trend and accelerating the achievement of global targets in this field.
She pointed out that the UAE is one of the world’s leading countries in the field of renewable energy, as it implements its projects and operates in more than 75 countries around the world, and remains a pioneer in developing and producing clean energy, activating projects, and disseminating renewable energy solutions in various countries.
She explained that holding these meetings is part of the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which brings together an elite group of innovators and leading international companies to review the latest innovations in the renewable energy sector and highlight the pivotal role of this sector in supporting climate action worldwide.
She stressed that the UAE places climate action at the top of its national agenda, noting that achieving these goals requires diversifying energy sources and expanding reliance on renewable energy. At the same time, she affirmed the UAE’s support for international efforts aimed at achieving national and global goals in the fields of climate action and energy transition.
