Morocco surpasses Egypt and achieves the best classification for an Arab team in history

The Moroccan national team achieved a new achievement after it became the best-ranked Arab team in history, reaching eighth place in the world, surpassing the previous record recorded by the Egyptian national team, which reached ninth place in the world in 2010.
According to the team classification issued by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in January, the “Atlas Lions” team ranked eighth in the world with 1,736.57 points, and no Arab team preceded it in that position.
While the Egyptian national team advanced 4 places, ranking 31st in the world with 1,556.71 points, after being in 35th place.
Morocco lost the 2025 African Cup of Nations title to Senegal, as the latter beat it 1-0 in the final match held at Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium on Sunday.
While the “Pharaohs” team finished the African championship in fourth place, losing to Nigeria in the third place match on penalty kicks with a score of 2/4 after the end of regular time in a goalless draw, on Saturday.
