According to specific requirements, Dubai Roads launches a permit service for installing vehicle parking shades in residential neighbourhoods

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has launched a permit service for installing canopies for vehicle parking in residential neighbourhoods, which is carried out on reserved regular parking lots. This service is available through the Authority’s website through contracting companies, as the request is submitted from a unified window to obtain the approval of all other relevant service authorities.
The Authority’s launch of this service comes in response to the needs of the population and from the standpoint of improving the quality of life and in order to preserve the cultural and aesthetic appearance of the Emirate of Dubai, stressing the necessity of this service, by listening to comments in customer councils and field visits, and in view of the high temperatures in the summer and the increasing number of vehicles in residential units.
Director of the Right-of-Way Department at the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Arif Shakri, said, “The approved requirements for installing vehicle parking canopies in residential neighborhoods include the necessity that the canopy not affect the continuity of flexible movement and pedestrians, as well as not affect the safety and flow of traffic movement, and not obscure any traffic signs, in addition to not affecting the infrastructure service lines that are located below the sidewalks and parking lots, and also adherence to the shape and color of the canopy according to the model approved by the Authority. It is also required The installation of the canopy must be temporary, so that it can be removed upon the request of any service entity that participates in infrastructure services in cases of development projects, maintenance, or emergencies.”
Shakri called on the owners of new residential units, as well as the future owners in charge of construction, as they are partners in making the Emirate of Dubai the most beautiful, sophisticated and civilized city in the world, to the need to respect the right of way, and to ensure during the period of installing the awnings that they comply with the standards in the Emirate of Dubai, indicating that the aim of the service is to organize the process of installing the awnings in accordance with the technical specifications and approved requirements, and in a way that ensures the preservation of the emirate’s civilized appearance, the safety and smooth flow of pedestrian and vehicle movement, and Impact on traffic signs or road furniture items.
