Guardiola reveals Rayyan Chergui’s position on facing Newcastle

Josep Guardiola, Manchester City’s coach, confirmed that he will monitor the readiness of Rayan Sharqi, the team’s player, before the Sky Club’s match against its guest, Newcastle United, tomorrow, Wednesday.

Manchester City will meet Newcastle in the second leg of the semi-final of the League Cup, where the team seems to have the best chance of qualifying for the final, following its 2-0 victory at its rival’s stadium in the first leg last month.

In the press conference he held today, Tuesday, before the match held at the Etihad Stadium, Oriardiola also stressed the return of Portuguese Ruben Diash, who has been absent from the field for a month, to training yesterday, Monday, but at the same time he added that Belgian international winger Jeremy Doku will continue his absence from the team.

The French playmaker Sharqi suffered a minor injury in the second half during Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with its host Tottenham Hotspur, the day before yesterday, Sunday, in the 24th round of the English Premier League championship.

But Guardiola said that he would monitor Sharqi’s readiness during the training session, today, Tuesday, where he said, “Ryan suffered a slight injury, and we will see today how he feels, while Robin started training yesterday, but Jeremy is not ready yet.”

In addition to Doku, Jusko Gvardiol, John Stones, Savinho, and Mateo Kovacic are still not available for selection as they continue to recover from injury, and Mark Guehi will also miss the match due to his ineligibility.
