Emirates Food Bank launches the “Save Blessing in Freejna” initiative to promote sustainable food practices

The Emirates Food Bank, affiliated with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, launched the “Preserving Blessings in Our Feet” initiative with the aim of spreading the culture of sustainability and preserving blessings, and enhancing community partnership in a way that contributes to reducing food waste, supporting food security, and consolidating the values ​​of giving and social responsibility.

The initiative will be organized in the Qur’anic Park until February 12, with the participation of 150 volunteers to implement the initiative’s program by registering donations, receiving donors, organizing, counting surplus food and preparing food baskets, in addition to implementing awareness and education workshops.

The initiative aims to achieve a number of humanitarian, social and environmental goals, by promoting the values ​​of giving and compassion among members of society, donating surplus food, adopting sustainable food concepts and practices, preserving the environment by reducing food waste, reducing waste and neutralizing it from the path of landfilling, enhancing the societal role, educating individuals on consumer culture, and signing a commitment to preserving grace.

Regarding the initiative, Manal Bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the Emirates Food Bank Foundation, said: “The Save the Blessings in Al-Furjan initiative falls within a series of community initiatives that the bank implements throughout the year to enhance community awareness of the importance of food preservation and spread the culture of sustainability by enhancing the participation of Al-Furjan residents in interactive and awareness-raising activities that create a sustainable impact. We chose to launch the initiative from Al-Furjan to carry a message and a human, social and environmental dimension, reflecting the comprehensive set of goals of the Emirates Food Bank in optimal planning and management of food surplus management, and reducing From wasting it, collecting it and delivering it to those who deserve it, raising awareness about the wise handling of food and changing negative concepts and practices, as well as achieving a positive environmental impact and supporting environmental sustainability, by reducing carbon emissions, reducing food waste, and diverting surplus from landfilling.”

The initiative includes awareness-raising activities, registering volunteers, and activities for children, as well as educating the people of Al-Furjan and inviting them to participate in donating surplus food and signing a commitment to reduce food waste, inventory food donations, and prepare baskets or containers to store cooked food for distribution to the deserving people in coordination with charitable organizations.

The list of partners contributing to the Preservation of Grace in Freegna initiative includes: Dubai Municipality, Inc ADNH For catering, charities, and private companies for packaging and transportation, which reflects the Bank’s efforts in opening effective communication channels, enhancing strategic partnerships and cooperation opportunities with various parties and partners from international humanitarian organizations and private sector companies.

The Emirates Food Bank is constantly working to launch humanitarian initiatives and charitable campaigns aimed at consolidating the trends of the United Arab Emirates in the field of charitable and humanitarian work. Through its initiatives, the Bank is also keen to promote the values ​​of giving and goodness, support the societal role and educate individuals about the correct consumer culture that preserves food, reduces its waste rates, and achieves a humanitarian goal by collecting the surplus and distributing it to the deserving, as well as strengthening partnerships and cooperation to achieve national goals.
