President of the Egyptian Football Association, Hani Abu Raida, categorically denied what was raised about the idea of ​​canceling the Egyptian League this season.
Abu Raida said in statements to the Football Association’s media center: “There is no truth to what was said about canceling the league championship this season.”
He stressed that the idea of ​​canceling the league had not been discussed, stressing that no one dares to raise this matter.
Egyptian football is experiencing a stressful season, whether due to the pause during the team’s participation in the African Cup of Nations, or the continental participation of the clubs, as well as the preparation for the World Cup this summer.
There were reports that there was thinking within the Football Association to cancel the league, on the grounds that Hossam Hassan, the national team’s coach, had requested a two-week period to prepare the national team before the World Cup.
