Fares Al Balushi wins a bronze medal in the Youth Fencing World Cup

The player of the national fencing team and the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Fares Al Balushi, won the bronze medal in the fencing fencing competition in the U-20 World Cup held in Costa Rica, thus recording the first medal for the UAE in the history of its participation in this age group, in a distinguished historical achievement.

Al Balushi’s coronation came after a series of distinguished performances, where he achieved 4 victories against one loss in the preliminary round, before continuing his brilliance in the elimination rounds, achieving victory in the round of 32 and reaching the bronze medal.

The director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Nader Abu Shawish, described the global achievement as reflecting the amount of training work organized within the club, stressing that Fares Al Balushi is one of the members of the club’s elite team.

He added: “The success also reflects the efforts of the Fencing Federation in supporting Emirati players and providing the appropriate environment to develop their talents, so that Fares Al Balushi becomes a model of determination and perseverance in individual sports at the global level.”
