Before the Human Rights Council.. The UAE condemns the Iranian attacks and confirms that it reserves the legitimate right of response

The United Arab Emirates affirmed that it reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to Iranian attacks in accordance with international law, to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
This came in a statement delivered by Shahad Matar, Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, as part of the country’s participation in the work of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Matar explained that the UAE has been subjected to Iranian attacks and attacks with ballistic missiles and drones that have targeted civilians and civilian objects inside the country since February 28, resulting in the death of three innocent civilians and the injury of 58 others. She stressed that this blatant aggression represents a blatant violation of the state’s sovereignty and a complete disregard for the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
It renewed the UAE’s categorical rejection of using its lands as a platform for settling scores or expanding conflicts, and condemned in the strongest terms the attacks targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Arab countries in the region, affirming its full solidarity with the sister countries.
It also called for restraint and resorting to dialogue and diplomatic solutions as the best way to preserve the security of the region.
Matar concluded the statement by noting that the UAE embraces more than 200 nationalities, many of whom are represented in the Human Rights Council, stressing that this attack was not only directed against the UAE, but also against international principles themselves, and must be dealt with on this basis.
