A fine brings Lukaku closer to leaving Napoli

The Italian football club Napoli imposed a fine on its player Romelu Lukaku amounting to 150,000 euros, equivalent to 20% of his total monthly salary, which makes the Belgian striker’s departure from the club this summer inevitable, according to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lukaku returned to Naples from Belgium after an absence of more than two weeks, and met with club director Giovanni Manna yesterday, Monday, according to the famous newspaper.

The club’s management allowed Lukaku to return to the Belgian city of Antwerp, but kept 20% of his total monthly salary, given the striker’s absence from the club for two weeks without its approval.

Many press reports in Italy revealed that Lukaku’s departure from Napoli this summer seems inevitable.

Federico Pastorello, Lukaku’s agent, participated in the meeting held yesterday, where he will be entrusted with the task of finding a new club for his client, who has one year remaining in his contract with his current club.

Lukaku, 32 years old, suffered a serious muscle injury at the beginning of the current season, which forced him to miss the first half of the current season.

Lukaku scored only one goal in seven matches he played this season, and did not start any matches.

According to multiple sources, Lukaku did not meet coach Antonio Conte yesterday, but the veteran star hopes to be ready to participate in the last three matches of the Italian League this season, and will spend the next two weeks in Belgium to regain full fitness.
