المملكة: "Mecca environment" Announces the start of a ban on fishing for nagel and tarad fish for two months

Declare Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Mecca Al-Mukarramah about the start of implementing a ban on fishing for najil and tarad fish along the coast of The Red Sea, starting on Wednesday, April 1, for a period of two months, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to regulate fishing seasons and protect fish stocks.
The General Director of the branch, Engineer Walid bin Ibrahim Al Deghes, explained that this decision coincides with the breeding season of these species, with the aim of providing the opportunity for natural reproduction and increasing their numbers, which contributes to achieving environmental balance and reducing overfishing practices.
He stressed that the monitoring teams will intensify their tours on Fishing ports and markets, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to ensure compliance with the ban period and the application of regulations against violators.
He also stressed the importance of fishermen’s commitment not to catch, sell or trade these species during the ban period, indicating that violators will be subject to penalties and fines in accordance with the approved regulations, calling on everyone to cooperate to preserve the sustainability of marine resources and enhance food security.
