The UAE regrets that the Security Council was unable to end Iranian attacks and threats against the global economy

The UAE expressed its deep regret that the Security Council was unable today to adopt a clear framework for international cooperation aimed at ending the illegal attacks and threats carried out by Iran against the global economy, by adopting a draft resolution demanding the immediate cessation of all attacks on ships and attempts to obstruct freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
She explained that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open to everyone, and freedom of navigation must be preserved. No country should have the ability to obstruct the arteries of global trade or push the world towards the brink of an economic crisis.
She said: “The failure of the Security Council to respond does not diminish the gravity of this crisis nor the resolve of the UAE. We thank the Kingdom of Bahrain for its leadership in the Security Council and its diplomatic efforts. The UAE will also continue to mobilize international efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and work with its partners to ensure the security of navigation and restore the flow of global trade.”
